How to use FBXinstall

-  Contributed by Charles Cooper

***** This is for WatchGuard FBX Core and FBX Peak appliances only. *****

The FBXinstall.bat utility is a very useful utility that is included with the v8.x software, when it is installed on your management station.

When a Technical Support Representative suggests that you reflash your Firebox with a new image, he is talking about using FBXinstall.

These are the two most common uses for the FBXinstall.bat utility:

1)      Flashing a FBX Core to revert back to WFS from Fireware.

2)      Flashing a FBX Core or FBX Peak to the latest Fireware image.

The instructions to perform those two actions with FBXinstall are at the links below:

Using FBXinstall to revert a Firebox X Core to WFS from Fireware Pro.

NOTE:  A Firebox X Peak can never have WFS loaded on to it.

Using FBXinstall to upgrade or reload Fireware Pro.

Fbxinstall needs both the serial cable and the Ethernet cable attached to the Firebox and your computer.

You need to be aware of the IP address of your Firebox and the COM port you are using for your serial connection.
